Mount Pinatubo: Grey Volcano Pyroclastic Flows, and Lahars
Unique Edition By Helen Chellin
It is comprised of six, ten by ten inch squares hinged together, each of which is an acrylic painting on stretched canvas. The panoramic view painting is acrylic paint on BFK paper. Each is backed by two plexiglass squares holding paint as slides under a microscope capture specimens. The housing is built with wood, paper, paint, and plexiglass.
* * * The original paintings created for this book honor the work of the team of volcanologists from the Philippines and the United States who joined together to document and monitor the effects of the Mount Pinitubo eruption of 1991. I pay tribute to their courage, intellect and spirit.
